Safer Web Surfing with FireFox

March 6, 2008

People always ask if Firefox is more secure than Internet Explorer.  The answer is Yes, due to it not running ActiveX and not being the standard web browser on every windows PC.  If you where trying to infect the greatest number of machines you would focus on the number one browser and try to expoit it, right?

We at pcULTRAcare.com recommend that people install and use firefox.  IE of course will still be used because some sites (financial sites for instance) need to have access to activex and other addons in order to provide their pages and information to you.  But for everyday surfing, especially when searching and going to unkown websites it is better to use firefox.

We have a page with a link to download Firefox.

Vundo Infection Removal

March 3, 2008

The vundo infection is very common with heavily infected computers.  You will see a variaty out there as far as effects but it will usually create popups for WinFixer, WinAntiVirus or SystemDoctor.

Lately we have been seeing a severe case of vundo, one that is very difficult to remove.  And will stay very difficult for automated programs to remove, if not impossible.  We have developed a manual method and our techs have learned to disable and distroy it.

A widely available fix for Vundo has been the vundofix by atribune.   It may work if you have one of the older versions of Vundo and is automated.   If this program cannot remove the vundo infection you will need to hire a tech to clean out your system or wipe and reload your OS.

We are very good at removing virus infections including the vundo infection, so if you need your PC cleaned we can do that remotely and completely online thru our online antivirus removal service (It’s only $59).
