Most people don’t know or care to know the dangers of virus infections.  From tracking to showing ads an infections can be a bit more dangerous than just being annoying or creating a privacy concern.  The newest infection spreading around the internet is one sending messages thru facebook system of friends.

It has subject titles that entice one to watch a video, then prompting that you need a flash update to watch.  Well that update is nothing more than an infection that will install a service on your PC (SamSs).  This creates a proxy where it will redirect all HTTP traffic thru it, either to redirect or track your internet surfing.   If it redirects, well that is just annoying but what if it silently tracks you and also captures your username/passwords?

That idea should scare everyone, with more people banking and buying online, credit card and personal information can be compromised and shared with the “bad guys”.

The only sure fire way to protect yourself is to be a bit more careful, have superior virus protection and if you do get infected try to get professional assistance in removing all infections (not just the ones that you see).

Vundo Infection Removal

The vundo infection is very common with heavily infected computers.  You will see a variaty out there as far as effects but it will usually create popups for WinFixer, WinAntiVirus or SystemDoctor.

Lately we have been seeing a severe case of vundo, one that is very difficult to remove.  And will stay very difficult for automated programs to remove, if not impossible.  We have developed a manual method and our techs have learned to disable and distroy it.

A widely available fix for Vundo has been the vundofix by atribune.   It may work if you have one of the older versions of Vundo and is automated.   If this program cannot remove the vundo infection you will need to hire a tech to clean out your system or wipe and reload your OS.

WinFixer Infections

Lately we have been having PCs come in with WinFixer infections.  WinFixer has been around since 2005 according to Symantec.

WinFixer tries to scare user into believing their computers are heavily infected and that if they purchase WinFixer it will clear all issues.  Obviously never buy or give any info to any popup!!  We have seen fake purchase websites that want to steal your information and credit card info.  Always buy software by going to original website never thru a link emailed to you or given in popups.

 As always have updated antivirus protection to keep computer safe.  We recommend NOD32 for ultimate virus protection.
